This scholarship recognizes Joseph John Fuentes’s public service and support for education. Joseph came to the peninsula in 1977 as a young enlistee stationed at Langley Air Force Base. While serving in the military, Joseph took classes at the Virginia Peninsula Community College (formerly Thomas Nelson Community College).
